Wildebeest Migration Seasons

The Wildebeest Migration in East Africa, also known as “The Great Migration” takes place between Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park and Kenya’s Masai Mara and is one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on the planet. Thousands of wildebeest and zebras migrate between the Serengeti and the Masai Mara, constantly driven by their search for fresh grazing. The massive herds are closely followed by predators (lion, hyena and cheetah) making the most of every opportunity to catch their next meal. 

Observe the more subtle nuances of wildlife behavior, expertly noted by your local guides and professional trackers. Explore all the great wildlife regions of northern Tanzania Lake Manyara, Tarangire, Ngorongoro and the famed Serengeti. Day 1: Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport – Arusha

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, meet at the airport with our Company representative or Driver guide and transfer to Arusha town for a comfortable night’s rest. 

Dinner and Overnight at Hotel/ Lodge

Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park  

On day 2 you will be picked up from your hotel at 08:30hrs and drive to Tarangire National Park. Spend full day exploring Tarangire, one of Tanzania’s ‘secret’ wildlife havens… teeming with large populations of elephant, predators and their fleet-footed prey.

Dinner and Overnight at Lodge/ Camp

Day 3: Tarangire – Lake Manyara National Park  

In the morning after breakfast at 08:30hours transfer from Tarangire to Lake Manyara national park for full day game viewing. Enter the Great Rift Valley and the lake’s waters which sustain a bountiful avian population, including flamingoes, as well as numerous pods of hippos.

 Dinner and Overnight at Lodge/Camp

Day 4:  Lake Manyara National Park – Ngorongoro Crater  

In the morning at 08:00hours transfer from Manyara to Ngorongoro, descend into the crater for full day crater tour. In the evening ascend the crater for dinner and overnight at the lodge on the rim of the crater. In the morning of day 6 at 08:00hours descend into the crater to observe the resident wildlife on the crater floor, at around 13:00hrs you will stop for picnic lunch near lerai forest or hippo pool, then after lunch ascend the crater and walk in the adjacent rolling hills and have an opportunity to interact with the Masai at a local manyatta.

Overnight at Lodge/Camp.

Day 5: Ngorongoro – Serengeti National Park

Morning after breakfast you will travel to the open plains of the Serengeti. The Serengeti is the most famous park in Tanzania and it is here where the biggest animal migration in the world takes place. Herds of wildebeests and zebras cross the border between Tanzania and Kenya in search of fresh grass and water, with predators waiting patiently in the shadows. The night will be spent at a campsite or Lodge in the central Serengeti.

Day 6-10:   Serengeti National Park  

You will have a four day to this endless plain of Serengeti. Your skilled driver knows the Serengeti and where to locate even the most elusive of animals. Morning and afternoon daily wildlife viewing you will have the opportunity to track and photograph the ‘Big Five’. You will be doing game drives while tracing the direction of the wildebeests. Spend all these four nights in Serengeti

Dinner and Overnight at Lodge/ Camp.

Day 11: Serengeti – Arusha – Kilimanjaro International Airport

One last game viewing opportunity this morning and then flight back to Arusha. Relax, enjoy lunch, or shop for collectibles before your evening departure flight.
