Gombe national park is located on the north-eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika near the border with Burundi. It has become world-famous through the pioneering work of the passionate Dr Jane Goodall who came to study the behavior of chimpanzees. The landscape of the park is steep valleys, streams and rivers. Air charters land in Kigoma, but accessibility into the park is limited to boats departing from Kigoma town.

Day 1: Arusha to Kigoma to Gombe

Morning shared charter flight from Arusha to Kigoma. Met on arrival at road transfer to Kigoma hill top hotel. Dhow boat transfer to the lodge. Staff welcome and introductions followed by lunch. Afternoon/early evening chimpanzee treks or forest walks. Evening sundowner, dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 2: Gombe chimps Treks

After breakfast depart for morning chimpanzee trek, on spotting the troops, we have one magical hour. Later back to the lodge for hot lunch, afternoon leisure perhaps Book an optional boat safari, sun downers, dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 3: Gombe to Kigoma

After breakfast morning Dhow transfer to Kigoma, arrive at Kigoma Hill Top hotel for hot lunch. Afternoon at leisure, lounge at the swimming pool or the private beach. Optionally book an Ujiji or Livingstone Memorial tour. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 4: Kigoma to Arusha

After breakfast you will be transferred to Kigoma airport to catch flight for Arusha.
