Honey Badgers have been called the world’s most fearless animal because it doesn’t hesitate to attack animals much larger than itself- even lions and crocodiles! They are found in arid grasslands and savannahs and even rainforests. They live in burrows in the ground. The honey badger looks a bit like a skunk. It has a stocky, flattened body with short, strong legs. Its long claws on the front feet are use for digging and defense. Its hair is thick and coarse, mostly black with a wide gray-white stripe that stretches across its back from the top of the head to the tip of the tail.

If you are lucky enough to see a honey badger in Tanzania, you will be in for a treat. These animals are incredibly fascinating to watch. They are also very playful, and they often engage in mock battles with each other. However, honey badgers do not initiate conflicts or engage in behavior for the purpose of provoking or “starting beef.” Their aggressive behavior is primarily a result of their instinctual drive to defend themselves, protect their territory, and secure their food resources.
